Hi All,
Here's the information that you've all been anxiously awaiting - our next monthly meeting of the Barnstead-Alton Republican Committee (BARC) is set!
Date: Tuesday, May 12, 2009
Time: Dinner (at your option) 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm; Meeting begins at 6:30 pm
Location: J.J. Goodwin's Restaurant
769 Suncook Valley Rd (Rt 28)
Center Barnstead, NH 03225
(603) 269-8300
I'm very pleased to announce that this month’s guest speaker will be State Senator Jeb Bradley of Wolfeboro. Senator Bradley recently won the special election for the vacant 3rd District Senate seat running on a platform of no new taxes, limited government, and family values. He will discuss the numerous, sometimes controversial, bills he dealt with during his first week on the job. In addition, Jeb will share his perspectives of the contrasts between working in Washington as our Congressman and working in Concord as State Senator. This is a great opportunity for you to meet Jeb if you haven't already met him, to hear his views on the future of the Republican Party, and to ask him any questions you may have about the Party, the elections in 2010, and his new position in our state government.
In addition to Jeb Bradley as our guest speaker, our agenda also includes:
* Belknap County Republican Lincoln Day Mount Washington Cruise - May 29
* Update on forthcoming special state elections
* 2010 Elections for Governor, US Senate, and Congress
As most of you know, BARC meetings tend to be somewhat informal, offering the townspeople of Alton, Barnstead, and surrounding towns an opportunity to make new friends, to see "old" friends, and to socialize. J.J. Goodwin's restaurant is reasonably priced and offers a casual environment to hear about the Republican Party, to discuss issues and concerns such as the economy, pending legislation, etc., and to hear from your elected officials.
Don't forget to MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW AND JOIN US NEXT TUESDAY, THE 12TH !!

LYNCH VS. BUCKLEY ON SAME-SEX MARRAIGE
“Governor John Lynch…has said he opposes same-sex marriage…[the same-sex marriage bill is] a big win for Democratic Chairman Ray Buckley, and a New Hampshire politico describes to me ‘insane behind-the-scenes wrangling,’ with two votes switching in the last 24 hours.”

New Hampshire Senate Passes Gay Marriage Bill

How fast is this moving?
The New Hampshire State Senate just passed a bill making same-sex marriage law -- by a single vote, 13-11.
The same bill already passed the House, and now goes to the desk of Governor John Lynch, a Democrat who has said he opposes same-sex marriage, but hasn't said how he'd act on the legislation.
Now Hampshire reports that it's a big win for Democratic Chairman Ray Buckley, and a New Hampshire politico describes to me "insane behind-the-scenes wrangling," with two votes switching in the last 24 hours.
