Rudy Giuliani will be here on Tuesday to help Senator McCain and we need to make sure that his events (that will be covered by press) are successful. This is the top priority for the next 48 hours. There are a number of things we need to do to make this happen:Please immediately contact supporters in your area and have them work to find undecided/leaning McCain voters who can attend one of our two "Undecided Roundtables with Rudy." Tell supporters we need names and phone numbers for follow up calls. We will be looking for you to tell us that you reached out to supporters on tonight's call.
Also, tell supporters they may attend the event to watch. We also need all names and phone numbers of people who would like to watch for confirmation phone calls.
The event info is listed below:

Editorial comment:
This in itself that we should take on in the future by reversing the meme that partisan ("sticking up for your principles") politics is bad and politicians of all stripes are worse. The voters have spoken....though with a very low
turnout, perhaps it could be phrased "not many spoke".
Andrew Sanborn wrote a Letter to the Editor in the Citizen, praising them for their work on a problem. Nice - he just "forgot" to include one of the Republicans that is helping out (imagine that!) - NH Rep (and soon Senator) Bill Tobin from Sanbornton. He writes a Letter standing up to Deb Reynold's record.
Not satisfied with that, Laconia City Ward 1 (and soon to be NH Senator) Greg Knytych also wrote a Letter concerning Kathy Sgambati's record.

Two Republicans not willing to let the details go unobserved and willing to go head to head.
The letters can be seen after the jump...

QUICK TAKES FROM THE CHAIRMAN
WHAT A CONVENTION: I had the good fortune to attend my second RNC convention last week, and my first with floor privileges. I think it’s safe to say that the energy within the Republican Party is at its highest point since the 2004 election. Several of us from NH were in the right place at the right time and got to meet Gov. Palin an hour after her speech Wednesday night, which was a real treat on an historic night.
PROTECTION FOR FIRST IN THE NATION: On a parochial note, we are pleased to report that, for the first time, the Republican National Committee has recognized our traditional first in the nation primary and written protection for the primary into the rules that govern the party’s nominating calendar for 2012. Specifically, the rules create a new “carve out” for New Hampshire (and South Carolina), allowing us to go before other states. John McCain let his support for the primary be known, and with McCain’s position standing in the corner as deliberations took place, the rules committees and the delegates went along. Lots of people in New Hampshire have worked behind the scenes to achieve this carve out for many years – including present and former national committee members and organizations like the NH Political Library – and this is a major accomplishment.
McCAIN-PALIN SIGNS AND STICKERS: We are being flooded with requests. We’ll have them soon – but be aware that they couldn’t be bought legally until they were the official nominees, so it will be a few days yet. We’ll get them into the field as soon as we have them.
NH STATE CONVENTION: Sunday, September 28, at 1:00 at Pinkerton Academy in Derry. Delegates include all nominated candidates for any office appearing on the November ballot, and those elected as delegates representing your city or town in Tuesday’s primary election. More details TBA, but for now, mark your calendar.
PLATFORM COMMITTEE HEARINGS: One of the pieces of business at the State Convention is the adoption of our party platform. We will be holding two public hearings this week:
- Second Congressional District – Wednesday, September 10th at the Republican State Committee Headquarters, 10 Water Street, Concord
- First Congressional District – Thursday, September 11th at the Laconia Victory Office, 664 Main Street, Laconia (524-1999).
HUMOR: Scenes from the convention: There is a well-known rivalry between Minneapolis and St. Paul. I saw one guy wearing a T-shirt that read, “The Bible says a lot about Saint Paul but it doesn’t even mention Minneapolis.” Another sign: “Global warming doesn’t kill polar bears. Sarah Palin does. With her bare hands.”

QUICK TAKES FROM THE CHAIRMAN
McCAIN-OBAMA DEAD HEAT IN NH: The June Rasmussen poll had Obama up by 11 points. The July poll had Obama up by 6 points. Now the August poll has Obama up by 1 point, 43-42, a statistical dead heat. I’m starting to believe that there is a ceiling to Obama’s support and that he may have hit it already. People just seem to have doubts about him and whether he has enough experience to be president.
HERE COMES THE INVASION: In the most recent newsletter from the NH Dems, they refer to a staffer from Hanover (where else?) whose title is “NH Democratic Party Out of State Volunteer Coordinator.” Don’t turn our elections over to people from out of state without doing your bit! < /SPAN>Sign up to volunteer at one of our Victory offices by contacting Ashley Maagero at amaagero@mccain08hq.com. Only 10 weekends left between now and the election.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “Can I explain to you what happened? First of all, it happened during a period after she was in remission from cancer. That’s no excuse in any possible way for what happened. This is what happened. I grew up as a small town boy in North Carolina…” – John Edwards, ABC, August 8, 2008)

NOW THAT’S A GOOD GUY: I ran into Jim Coburn at the Londonderry Old Home Day parade. He was looking for Joe Kenney, whom Jim had noticed could use an extra pair of hands while working the parade route, so Jim stepped in and walked the route with Joe while carrying a sign. Way to go, Jim; that’s character.
